Gap analysis & remediation

AI governance and technology review for privacy and security compliance

Gap analysis & remediation

This assessment identifies the gaps between your current data privacy, AI governance, or compliance practices and regulatory requirements such as DIFC DPL, ADGM DPR, UAE PDPL, GDPR or the EU AI Act. We review your processes, policies, and systems to pinpoint vulnerabilities, then provide a tailored action plan to mitigate risks, avoid fines, and build stakeholder trust.

Key Benefits:

✔ Uncover compliance gaps before regulators do.

✔ Get a clear roadmap tailored to your business.

✔ Stay aligned with evolving laws, efficiently.

What is a privacy gap analysis?

A gap analysis compares what your organisation does today with what the law requires, and produces a prioritised list of what to fix. It is the most efficient first step when you are starting a privacy programme, entering a new market, or preparing for a customer review, because it shows exactly where the effort should go instead of guessing.

What we assess

  • Applicable laws: UAE PDPL, DIFC DPL, ADGM DPR, KSA PDPL, GDPR and UK GDPR, and DPO or regulator-registration obligations
  • Governance: accountability, roles, policies and training
  • Data inventory: what personal data you hold, where it sits and who can access it
  • Legal basis and consent: whether each use of data is justified and documented
  • Individual rights: how you handle access, correction, deletion and objection requests
  • Vendors and transfers: processor contracts and cross-border data flows
  • Security and breach readiness: controls and your incident response process
  • AI and high-risk processing: profiling, automated decisions and new technologies

How the gap analysis works

  1. Scoping: we agree the entities, laws and business areas in scope.
  2. Information gathering: a questionnaire, document review and interviews with key teams.
  3. Assessment: we map your practices against each requirement and rate every gap.
  4. Report: a clear written report with findings, risk ratings and what good looks like.
  5. Remediation plan: a prioritised roadmap with suggested owners and effort, so you know what to do first.
  6. Support to close the gaps: optional help drafting policies, notices and contracts and building the processes.

What you receive

  • An executive summary for leadership
  • A requirement-by-requirement gap register with risk ratings
  • A prioritised remediation roadmap
  • A list of quick wins you can implement straight away

Gap analysis or audit?

A gap analysis tells you what is missing against the law. A data protection audit tests whether the controls you do have work in practice. Most organisations start with a gap analysis and move to periodic audits once the programme is in place. This page is general information, not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions

Who should do a gap analysis?

Companies building their first privacy programme, businesses expanding into the UAE, Saudi Arabia or the EU, organisations preparing for due diligence or a customer security review, and anyone unsure which laws apply to them.

How long does it take?

It depends on your size, the number of laws in scope and how quickly information is shared. We agree a realistic timeline at scoping.

Do we have to fix everything it finds?

No. The roadmap ranks gaps by risk so you can address the most important ones first and plan the rest over time.

Can you also help us fix the gaps?

Yes. We can draft documents, design processes and train your teams, or act as your outsourced DPO while the programme matures. See our UAE and regional compliance service and EU and UK GDPR service.
